Sub-Task Description
The JRA Planetary Surface Task will bridge between the mapping/Geographic Information System (GIS) standards and practice and the Virtual Observatory (VO) ones. It will develop and implement coordinate system the Solar System into the thools used in VO world (FITS format, VO protocols) as well as define protocols to exchange data between VO and GIS systems. The developments will target both existing WebGIS systems as well as Open Source desktop clients.
